Organisations have a responsibility to:
- understand legal responsibilities and mitigate risk 
- meet legal obligations related to insurance, in particular for workers compensation and public liability 
- ensure insurance clauses for any template contracts are adapted to the reasonable requirements of the specific project 
- negotiate insurance arrangements and consider assisting with insurance costs 
Artists have a responsibility to:
- understand legal responsibilities and mitigate risk 
- meet legal obligations related to insurance, in particular public liability and professional indemnity 
- review agreements to ensure their current insurance coverage matches requirements, and that insurance requests are appropriate to the project 
Agreements should:
- outline, in writing negotiated responsibilities prior to beginning work, in particular in the areas of contents insurance, workers compensation and professional indemnity 
- outline insurance for transfer of ownership arrangements – generally responsibility of artwork-related insurance lies with the party in possession or control of the artwork
